Set in the mysterious landscape of the bogs of
rural Ireland,
Carr's lyrical and timeless play tells the story of Hester Swane, an Irish
traveller with a deep and unearthly connection to her land. Tormented by the
memory of a mother who deserted her, Hester is once again betrayed, this time
by the father of her child, the man she loves. On the brink of despair, she
embarks on a terrible journey of vengeance as the secrets of her tangled
history are revealed. Forgiveness, vengeance and disparate forces figure in the
tangled history embodied in this powerful drama as it makes its way through
heartbreak and, occasionally, hilarity, and its secrets unfold towards its
tragic conclusion.

Journey Home
“Where you go I will go and where you stay I will stay.
Your people will be my people and your God my God”
Ruth 1:16
An epic tale and a true story, Journey Home brings us back through
history to biblical times, where we find a family ravaged by famine, struck
down by illness, torn apart by death.
All seems irrevocably lost for the survivors. Yet could the
faith, loyalty and courage of two remaining women change destiny’s path? Is the
darkest hour before the dawn? A poignant dramatisation of this ancient tale.
